WHAT  IS  REIKI?
Reiki is a simple yet profound system of natural healing for body and mind - health and well-being by rebalancing, cleansing and renewing your internal energy system.

This powerful technique for relaxation and healing is performed through a gentle laying on of hands. The Reiki practitioner's hands guide the spiritual energy to heal the whole person. Reiki can do no harm, and is a complementary medicine in that it's use is in addition to, and not a replacement for, conventional medicine. A Reiki practitioner does not store Reiki energy in her body or use her own energy in giving Reiki. Reiki flows through the practitioner as a pure spiritual energy that cannot be affected by the giver nor the receiver. Reiki always seeks the highest good for the receiver.
We can use Reiki as we wish; the only limits are those that we create either consciously or sub-consciously. We do not need faith for it to work. Children, animals and plants benefit from Reiki as much as adults.
It is impossible to force Reiki to heal the body. That decision is in the hands of the Higher Power and the person who is open to receiving it. Reiki may sometimes heal the body immediately, or often by accelerating the healing process....and always works in healing the emotions and spirit.

HOW DOES REIKI HEAL?

An important part of the functioning of the human body is it's electrical nature. There are currents that flow through the nerves, blood and all organs and cells. Science helps us understand that when an electric current flows through a conductor (a cell, tissue or organ), an electromagnetic field is created around the conductor. Any change in an electromagnetic field will induce a similar change in electrical flow in conductors close by and therefore in their electromagnetic fields. This energy, combined with the spiritual energy we receive from the Higher Power is known in China as Chi, and Japan as Ki. It is the primal energy behind everything that exists. Most of the types of Ki in the physical body, mind, and emotions are affected by thoughts and feelings, on both the conscious and sub-conscious levels. They in turn affect the health of the body's electromagnetic field which in turn affects the health of the physical body.
The Reiki energy flows into the receiver's energy field from the hands of the practitioner, and it is that energy that creates the relaxing and healing effect. Negative energies are released, and replaced with Reiki, "the primal energy of the universe being guided by the highest wisdom of the universe."
Reiki is an excellent and effective complimentary support to medical and psychological treatments.
